This week I worked with good cops. They were honorable men and women doing their best to help our community. They are what cops should aspire to be. Salt Lake City Detective Jeff Payne is not a good cop. In fact, he is a complete and utter disgrace to his badge, his uniform and his oath. Payne attacked and arrested a hospital nurse when, following established protocol, she would not let him draw blood from an unconscious patient. Payne apparently didn’t want to bother getting a warrant.
Bad cops like Payne make it harder for good cops. I hope Payne is fired and I hope he goes to jail. I hope his employer has to pay this nurse a bunch of money.
