Criminal Investigations

If you are under investigation for a crime, I believe in a strong proactive defense. A strong proactive defense may stop a criminal investigation.

I have represented people who were being investigated for all types of crimes, including:

  • Mortgage brokers who were under investigation for fraud charges or other white-collar crimes.
  • School teachers who were under investigation for alleged sex offenses with a student.
  • Drivers who have been in a fatal car accident and who are under investigation for negligent homicide.

During a criminal investigation, I serve two roles. First, as your lawyer I will defend you. I will stand between you and the police to make sure you don’t do anything or say anything that damages your position. I will aggressively protect and assert your rights. As your lawyer, it’s easier for me to say no to the police, than it is for you.

Secondly, I will conduct my own investigation. I often associate my investigator, but typically I participate in interviewing all key witnesses. My goal during the investigative phase of a case is to develop enough evidence to persuade the government or a grand jury, that you are not guilty and prevent the filing of any charges against you. Over the years I have compiled numerous packages which included affidavits, witness statements, photographs, diagrams, and legal documents. I present these packages, when appropriate, to the prosecutor and grand jury in an attempt to clear my client of the charges.
